A list of 30 To-do’s Before 30

Hi friends,

2012 is here! And this year I’ll be 25. I have made this list of 30 things to do before I’m 30, because…well, dang, I’m going to be 30 in 5 years!

If you can help me get these things done, I will love you forever, and if not, what’s on your life list??

Here it is:

1 Take a photography class.
2 Visit Ireland and drink a pint in a pub while singing an Irish bar song.
3 Eat Tres Leches Cake in South America.
4 Go on a camping trip in Eastern Canada.
5 Learn to drive stick.
6 Make a bed-size quilt out of re-purposed fabric.
7 Run an ultramarathon (or any long race over 42 km).
8 Go on a road trip with my closest girlfriends.
9 Ride in a hot air balloon.
10 Adopt a dog from a shelter.
11 Learn to play a song on guitar.
12 Have a vegetable garden.
13 Speak fluent French. (currently have a personal tutor!)
14 Make an article of clothing for myself that is acceptable to wear out of the house.
15 Go whale watching somewhere in Canada.
16 Spend the night in a yurt.
17 Learn to french braid my hair
18 Go Dog sledding.
19 Take my Nanny and Poppa on a wild adventure somewhere.
20 Own a perfect “little black dress”.
21 Try indoor or outdoor rock-climbing.
22 Go on a Yoga retreat. Maybe here?
23 Make some homemade ice cream and homemade hot fudge.
24 Be completely vegan for a month.
25 Mail hand written letters to friends who I’ve been out of touch with these past few years
26 Buy a stranger their morning coffee
27 Send my 11 8 girlfriends from home flowers “just because”.
28 Volunteer with something like Big Sisters or United Way
29 Scrapbook my travels in Europe
30 Cook through a cookbook all the way through (I am currently working on The Vegetarian Collection by Canadian Living).

  1. What a wonderful list.
I can help with # 6,15,16,23 ( we have a hand ice cream maker and an electric one.)
Poppa can help with #5, 8.
    Especially like # 19

  2. Rock Climbing!!! You can go outdoor rock climbing in Gatineau Park, but if you ever wanna go indoor rock climbing I’m your girl! (Warning: I’m not a pro, by any means…I just think it’s fun)

  3. I love this idea…I’m going to do the same thing on my blog and link back to yours :) but I have one less year to do these things…
I want to do #2, sing Galway girl in Galway. I want to do #6 with old t-shirts (yes, like Renee did for Bella in Twilight). and I did #21 on Tamarack and LOVED it!
    Good luck with your list!

  4. I can help you check Nr. 4. 9. 21. off your list.
I am thinking a camping roadtrip through the Maritimes , maybe even Newfoundland. Along the route near Fundy Bay I also know this awesome place to climb. It is right near the water, super fun, and the way the rock is formed it sorta looks like bubbles so there are millions of places to dig your fingers into, a super fun way to climb. And instead of camping that night we could stay on my family’s farm just up the road. Also if you can’t wait for me, ask my parents I have some rock climbing equipment for outdoor climbing that you are welcome to borrow.

  5. I can help with18, 13, 8 and 4.

  6. Katrina! I want to help! You should come to Guelph, we have rock climbing here AND I have scrapbooking supplies to share!

  7. I love your list! :) Lots of great goals.
I too want to go whale watching somewhere in Canada. And camp in Eastern Canada. I live on the Prairies and have not really been East. I would LOVE to do a road trip from Winnipeg to the Maritimes this fall if possible.

  8. i can help with number 1 photography is my thing! this is so exciting!

  9. jump out of a plane eating a rattlesnake sandwich

  10. Awesome list! Dog sledding would be amazing! And it is too cute that your Nan’s jumped in :)

  11. i love this list! i just turned 30 a few weeks ago + about a month before that, i realized that i should’ve made a 30 before 30 list. unfortunately, it was a little too late by that point, ha! maybe i’ll make a 35 before 35 list now. =) if i was closer, i could help you with #17 – i’m a mean french-braider! =)

  12. I am kind of obsessed with this idea. I’m gonna work on one for myself. I love number 14… “that is acceptable to wear out of the house.” Too funny!

  13. For #2, can I highly recommend the oldest pub in Ireland? It’s called the Brazen Head, and it’s located in Dublin. http://www.brazenhead.com/ I visited there in 2002, when I was 26. It’s a beautiful old pub, and definitely worthy of any bucket list. Never you mind calculating how long it’s been since I was 26! :)

  14. Awesome list! I love the idea of cooking your way through a cookbook!

  15. I am going to teach you to french braid your hair next week! :) Also, I am always up for whale watching, if you’d like some company!

  16. I have seen these before but hadn’t really paid attention until now. What a fantastic list you’ve created!! You have inspired me to write up my own! (http://thechiha.blogspot.com/2012/09/30-before-30.html)

  17. What a great list! I’m about to turn 26, and feeling that downward slope towards 30…doing something like this makes it more exciting to get to 30, instead of dreading it! :)
Si tu as besoin de l’aide avec francais, j’ai etudie a Grenoble (pres de l’Italie) pendant mes etudes a l’universite…c’est toujours un plaisir de rentcontrer une autre Francophile :)
Also I’m a new blogger, would love your feedback! Merci et happy blogging! -Holly
